Well it has been a very long time since one of the most iconic rock bands from Los Angeles had released anything; producing masterpieces from Blood Sugar Sex Magik to Stadium Arcadium Red Hot Chili Peppers have wowed so many hearts for a fantastic 25 years. This is the first album with new guitarist Josh Klinghoffer; long time guitarist John Frusciante left the band for a second time to persue a solo career. It's fantastic that the Chilis have not lost their musical touch and this album is clear proof of this. To be quite honest I had my doubts at first; not being overly keen on the single The Adventures Of Rain Dance Maggie but the other songs on this album have convinced me otherwise. I also love how the album highlights the skills from each member of the band; particularly in the cases of Flea the bassist and new guitarist Josh, keeping to the funk rock sound the Chilis are well known for. What stands out on any Chilis album are the melodies of the music; a lot of those you can hum all day long and this album keeps it up.
Overall a fantastic comeback from a rock band that have secured a place in most of our hearts; they are still going strong after 25 years.
Stand out tracks: Factory Of Faith, Happiness Loves Company and Even You Brutus
Well it has been a while since I have heard brand new material from Californian rockers Red Hot Chili Peppers; they are one my bands that got me into rock music so I was looking forward to this new single. It was released for a worldwide premier today; it's taken from their upcoming album I'm With You which shall be released 30th August this year. At the first listen I must say I wasn't overly keen; it sounded pretty much like anything you'd hear today, I thought they'd lost their flare. Although after a second listen I found the flare wasn't lost; you could call the track a grower if you like. This is the first single I have heard with new guitarist and I must say he did a fantastic job with the unusually fantastic guitar riffs that are one of the RHCP's selling points. Also Flea skills on the bass have not vanished; he is one of rock's greatest bass players.
Overall a good song; although I slightly prefer their previous material after hearing this. I hoping the rest of the album will be just as good, if not better.
Hi guys; wow weeks do fly by don't they. Time for another issue of Where Are They Now? This week features Razorlight, Busted and Red Hot Chili Peppers.
Now I must admit I am not Razorlight's biggest fan but I have wondered where Johnny Borrell in his skin tight white jeans and co had gone since they are a very popular band amongst youth culture. They have had three sucessful albums with a lot of singles; In The Morning, America, Fall To Pieces and the hit that made them famous Golden Touch. Well doing some research they are working on a fourth album which could make the British charts, so Razorlight could be storming the charts again soon.
Now a lot of girls my age now can remember being mad about Busted when they were in their prime time; I remember my school disco when I was about eleven years old and lots of girls screaming when their song Year 3000 came on. To be honest I did like Busted but only for their music; a lot of the other girls always seemed to talk about who was the cutest. They went their separate ways after Charlie Simpson left to join Fightstar, Matt Wilson had a brief solo career just before going into rehab and James Bourne had a brief stint with a band called Son Of Dork. There have been rumours that the band will get back together; Charlie however will not be apart of it, he wants to continue flying solo.
Red Hot Chili Peppers are one of my favourite bands; basically I was still discovering rock music when I came across them so I bought their album By The Way that I fell in love with at the first listen. They have been running for over 20 years; since their release of Stadium Aracadium they disappeared for a while; guitarist John Frusciante had left the band for a second time to persue a solo career. When I heard about a new album release this year I was over the moon; it's to be released at the end of August this year. It will be the first album with Frusciante replacement Josh Klinghoffer. I am really excited about the new album.
