Seether - Holding Onto Strings Better Left To Fray

Seether are one of my favourite grunge rock bands to date; their album Finding Beauty In Negative Spaces is one of my favourites. I had noticed they had disappeared from the world of rock for a bit and realised they have released a brand new album. I had heard the first single Country Song on YouTube recently and I really liked how they took a completely different approach to their music via that song.  From beginning to the end of the album I found that these South African grunge rockers had not lost their touch; I think it's the fourth time I have listened to this album in the past couple of days and it gets better every time I hear it. For me one of Seether's highlights is how on their albums they can express both sides of their personality in through their music and songwriting skills. Same goes for this album; there's the really upbeat feel good songs such as Tonight and then you have the very dark material on there such as Pass Slowly.

This is a brilliant album; fantastic comeback from the band and possibly their best album so far. Keep it up boys; their new album is now available to purchase.

Stand out tracks:  Country Song, Down and Roses

Theory Of A Deadman - The Truth Is....

Have been waiting for this for quite some time; eagerly opening the packaging of the CD I was beaming for joy as it was the new Theory Of A Deadman album. I loved their previous album Scars and Souvenirs, I also know that personal favourite song Lowlife was on the album too. Anyways the album starts of with Lowlife; no suprise there, but still a great song. After the album gets better and better; with such songs as Bitch Came Back and The Truth Is...(I Lied About Everything); what I found about Theory Of A Deadman is that they are brilliant at producing a versatile selection of songs. As well as the really bouncy up beat tunage we also hear some very heartfelt ballads such as Head Above Water and Out Of My Head. The track Hurricane stood out to me; it had a very epic instrumental.

Overall a fantastic album from the Canadian rockers; this album marks why I cannot wait to see them live on tour in November with fellow rockers Alter Bridge and Black Stone Cherry. I can imagine some of these tracks sounding amazing live.

Stand Out Tracks:  Bitch Came Back, Out Of My Head and Hurricane

New Theory Of A Deadman album; release date announced

Just heard today that Vancouver rockers Theory Of A Deadman shall be releasing a brand new album on 12th July; I personally cannot wait for this. After their extraordinary Scars and Souvenirs, which I reviewed in I think December that includes songs Bad Girlfriend (below), So Happy and Little Smirk,  I would love to see what new material they have produced; they will be releasing a new song from it next month.

Feud - Out From The Inside EP

I saw this band at my student union bar at Southampton Solent university where I study and particularly thought they were brilliant so I decided to get an EP from them. A really fantastic selection of songs to introduce the band's grungy sound, the voice I fell in love with right away. I think their boat could possibly sail far in the ocean of rock and metal, I hope to hear more material and see them again soon. Here I leave with a song by them.

The Pretty Reckless - Light Me Up

I did have my doubts about this band at first; hearing about lead vocalist Taylor Momsen being in the headlines of gossip magazines for the wrong reasons, I was hoping that didn't affect the music. The opening songs My Medicine and Since You're Gone blew all my doubts away, she does have an incredibly amazing voice and the songs are very cleverly written. The songs You Make Me Want To Die and Just Tonight I had heard before and liked a lot, very deep emotional ballads. The song Light Me Up is definately a great way to boost one's self esteem; I think it also reflects Taylor Momsen's personality, mentioning in interviews she is honest and she's not afraid to be herself. Overall an inspiring album, it definately shows entirely different side to Taylor Momsen from when I saw her portraying Cindy Lou in the film The Grinch.

Stand out tracks:  Light Me Up, Miss Nothing and You

Theory Of A Deadman - Scars and Souvenirs

I had been meaning to listen to this band for quite a while since they seem to appear on the 'You May Like' section on any music website under a Nickelback page, I adore Nickelback so I definately wanted to check them out. Listening to a bit of Theory Of A Deadman in the shop Underground Clothing so I decided to buy this album since it had the song Bad Girlfriend on it. Being that was the song I heard in Underground Clothing, loved it so much. Frontman Tyler Connolly sounds so much Chad Kroger (Nickelback frontman), the first two songs had me gripped immediately being due to the fact two very different contrasting songs opened up this awesome album. So Happy being a very upbeat track and By The Way being quite mellow; in this album I heard a great variety of songs. Songs like Got It Made and Bad Girlfriend being very energetic that make you want to jump around like crazy then you have the tearjerkers like Not Meant To Be; this particular had a big impact on me since I am getting through a heartache at the moment so the song did bring a tear to my eye. This album will definately be a highlight of this year even though it's official realease was a couple of years ago, I hope they release more stuff. In the meantime I shall definately give their older stuff a listen.

Stand out tracks:  Bad Girlfriend, So Happy and Little Smirk
