Well here are my top five music videos of 2011;

5. Theory Of A Deadman - Lowlife

This video was a fantastic one to show the bands return after three years; I love how the video matches with the concept of the song and I think that what we see in my top five videos. Like frontman Tyler Conolly mentions in this interview how the term has a negative connotation but the song is about how being a lowlife can be fun and there is a lowlife in all of us. This video demonstrates that perfectly; it starts with a man living in his trailer and it's obvious he doesn't care what people think of him, I particularly love the caravan exploding at the end with this man and the band walking away.

4. Within Temptation - Where Is The Edge

Another band that quite a triumphant return via this song and video; the concept is a little bit darker this time however. The clip is taken from the film Me and Mr Jones which looks at the story from the aftermath of a young girl who was reported missing in Aruba five years. This song matches the mood of this video; intense, a fantastic comeback from Dutch Symphonic metallers I think.

3. In Darklight - The Human Race

This music video from Andover alternative rockers is in my top three is because it is their first one and they pulled it off quite well. I like the structure of this video is simple but effective; I hope they make more music videos in 2012, you can also check out their brilliant cover of The Police classic Message In A Bottle.

2. Black Veil Brides - Fallen Angels

You either love them or you hate them but with two successful albums and many sold out shows Black Veil Brides have really done well in the music industry. Their music video for their popular song Fallen Angels to speak to everyone on so many levels; to me it shows people coming together to show us who they really are and this song does refer to them as Fallen Angels so I do think this video is a highlight of their career.

1. Dommin - Closure

Now this music video is my top music video for 2011 because the concept of the song matches the video and Los Angeles goth rockers Dommin portrayed this in such a unique way. Getting the fans to send photos and videos of them showing their idea of what Closure is; I remember back in October last year frontman Kristopher Dommin asking for the fans help for the latest music video and I just thought what a fantastic way to get your fans involved. Especially when the final outcome of the video looked incredible; it was put together really well with footage of the band and the fans.

Top 10 Albums of 2011 - Part 1

Well guys another year gone; it is now time to tell about my ten top albums that have really highlighted my year.

10. Black Veil Brides - Set The World On Fire

Despite their dissapointing live show in October I am going to give Hollywood rockers Black Veil Brides some credit for producing a fantastic album and starting a new revolution to music fans everywhere. I do love how the speak for outsiders in society and a lot of their music does very much speak to outsiders; it has a great mixture of songs such as the anthemic Fallen Angels and the heartfelt Saviour. Andy Biersack enticing vocals draws you in like a moth to the flame. You either love them or you hate them; either way their iconic Set The World On Fire has made it to number 10 of my albums of 2011.

9. Reckless Love - Animal Attraction

Finnish glam rockers Reckless Love's second album has really worked wonders in my music findings this year; very much liking the fact they remind me of a modern day version Poison. Catchy songs and old school guitar riffs are what really pushed my buttons; following a successful debut I think Reckless Love really deliver here.

8. Alestorm - Back Through Time

I love the whole concept of this album produced by Scottish pirate rockers Alestorm; they write and perform songs that are related to pirate related matters and that is what I love. Most of the songs have a special place in my heart such as Scrapin the Barrell and The Sunk'n Norwegian. I definitely hope to see and hear more from them when I see them live in the new year.

7. Turisas - Stand Up and Fight

Eccentric Finnish metal heads Turisas have been a huge highlight of 2011 and this album is one of the reasons; I love their folk approach to metal and add an accordian and violin into the mix. My personal favourites on this album being The March of the Varangian Guard and Hunting Pirates this album really stood out for me this year. The key album that converted me to a Turisas fan for good.

6. Black Stone Cherry - Between The Devil and The Deep Blue Sea

To be honest; after hearing Blame It On The Boom Boom I was doubting what Black Stone Cherry's new album would sound like since I wasn't too keen on the song. However my hopes were lifted again after hearing the song White Trash Millionaire; the hopes were also confirmed. They still had their usual kick ass sound with catchy riffs and excellent vocal skills from Chris Robertson; a friend of mine mentioned the number of ballads on the album and I found he is right. Black Stone Cherry can produce a wide range of tunes and this album is proof.

Black Veil Brides @ Southampton University 6/10/2011

Well after a long long summer my uni gig action began last night in the form of one of the most successful new rock bands today; they are all over Kerrang!, appeared on TV and Radio. I went to see in fact Black Veil Brides.

Getting there at around 8 with a friend we both people were still waiting to get in; hearing about others who had been waiting there since 4pm that afternoon goes to show how many hearts this band touches and it is lovely to see. So after waiting for ages unintentionally in the under 18s queue we got in and managed to catch the last two songs from My Passion's set. I had only caught the last few songs but I really liked how they engaged the crowd by their energetic stage presence and melodic music. I was surprised since I wasn't too fond of their new album but I may have to listen to them again.

Yashin were up next to play; had only heard their stuff briefly before but I was intrigued by what they had to offer. After watching their set I now have a new favourite band; I just loved how they interacted with the fans and their energy was incredible. Their cover of the Britney Spears song Everytime I was not expecting; I recognised the opening immediately and thought it sounded a bit better than the original. I met the guys afterwards and bought an album which you may see a review about on here soon.

Headliners Black Veil Brides had only come into my life a few months ago; I loved their album Set The World On Fire and I think a few of their songs would definitely become stadium anthems one day. 'BLACK VEIL BRIDES! BLACK VEIL BRIDES!' were the chants you could hear all over the venue and they made a mysterious stage presence with lots of smoke. Opening with the song Love Isn't Always Fair got the crowd pumping and singing, from that I could tell Black Veil Brides were well under way. However after their song Set The World On Fire I felt quite uncomfortable; like I didn't belong where I was. The band were very energetic and showed a lot of passion in their performance but I couldn't really hear Andy's vocals a lot of the time, might have been the microphone I don't know and the atmosphere made me feel a bit out of place. So out of place I left early and that's a first for me. Very disappointed that happened but these things do, the show wasn't what I expecting. Although I did find their cover of Billy Idol's Rebel Yell rather good.

Get Well Soon Andy - Video

Remember in a previous post I was saying about how fans of Black Veil Brides came together from all over the world to send in messages, videos, photos etc to be put together in one final video for lead vocalist Andy Biersack to see. Andy had shattered three ribs whilst performing at a Hollywood show; he is resting until he gets better and in this video, the fans show their love and support. I absoulutely adore videos that fans help to make; it just makes it extra special for the band. Anyways here is the video below; the final outcome is fantastic, I want to give a shout to the girl who sent in the video of doing tricks with a light up hula hoop whilst holding a card saying 'Get Well Andy'. I just want to say to this girl that she is a genius.

As many Black Veil Brides fans would have heard; frontman Andy Biersack has broken his ribs from jumping from a balcony whilst performing to fans at a Hollywood show. Black Veil Brides - Set The World On Fire

Ever since hearing about them I have been loving what Kerrang readers have voted 'best international newcomer' and after listening to this album I can definately see why they acheived this status. A variety of catchy but rather strong melodies are one of the elements that make this album special. Andy Biersack's voice is incredible, possibly one of my new favourite singers after listening to this album. I think this album is definately an escapist album which is brilliant; helping you forget any kind of stress and one of the things I love to do is to find anyway to escape the pressure reality seems to put on us today. My favourite tracks on the album are Fallen Angels and the heartfelt Saviour; I can imagine the song Fallen Angels being performed to a huge arena such as Wembley and getting the positive reception, a whole crowd shouting back WE SCREAM as a call and response effect. Saviour almost had me in tears; it's such a touching song, I also like the fact Andy uses screamo vocals near the end of the song. Caught me off guard I must say.

Overall a fantastic new album from 'best international newcomer' Black Veil Brides; unfortunately having missed them at Download this year I am happy to say I'll be seeing them in Southampton in October. Cannot wait for that.

Back from Watchett and new music

Hello people; just got back from staying with my aunty and uncle in Watchett, a small seaside town situated in the English county Somerset. I had a wonderful time walking along the pier, scoffing cream tea and shopping in Taunton.

I also recieved Black Stone Cherry's brand new album Between the Devil and the Deep Blue Sea that arrived just before I went off to Somerset; I have to say it was some great road trip music. Kicking off with their cracking new single White Trash Millionaire got the album well under way; I loved the different variety of songs such as the country sounding All I'm Dreamin Of to the down and dirty Blame It On The Boom Boom. My personal favourite on the album is a song called Won't Let Go; it's so heart warming and touching, it always has me welling up inside every time I hear it. Overall an outstanding album from the Kentucky rockers; possibly their best album to date. Here is the brand new video for White Trash Millionaire.

Also coming back to a couple of videos from two band I like a lot; Amorphis and Black Veil Brides. I love the concept behind the Amorphis video; I had seen pictures of the shoot and wasn't quite sure what to expect. The location and story are incredible; just bought the new album that I will listen to some point this week.

Black Veil Brides new video is very energetic; I love the setting and I am impressed with the amount of rain in the video their extraordinary hairstyles stay in tact. Their brand new album Set The World On Fire is avaliable to pre-order now; it's official release is 14th June 2011.

Black Veil Brides - We Stitch These Wounds

They are this week's feature of Kerrang magazine, every rocker is talking about them, this post is all about Black Veil Brides. After reading about in this band in Kerrang and hearing lots of positive feedback from fans all over the country I had to see for myself what everyone was getting excited about. The first thing that intrigued me about this band was their appearance; of course every band has to have their own individual look in order to stand out from the rest and I absoulutely love the look of this band. The use of make up is definately unique, the hair is phenomenal and the clothing style is pretty epic too; inspiration from Japanese anime gothic style maybe...that's what it looks like. 

Anyways onto the music, I really like their sound. Andy Six's mixture of vocal styles from screaming to clean singing, his voice is like a mixture of Ville Valo from HIM and David Draiman from Disturbed; I like this very much, a great combination. The screaming also works brilliantly; combines well with the clean vocals. Neck breaking guitar solos and melodic riffs that you could hum all day long complete the package known as Black Veil Brides.
